Recycling

The City of Saraland has two types of residential recycling.  The free SINGLE STREAM RECYCLING containers are located on Station Street and residents must take their recycling items to the collection station.

Curbside Residential Recycling

The City of Saraland is proud to offer OPTIONAL curbside recycling service for $5.00 per month. This would be added to your monthly garbage bill. Pick up days are every Tuesday. This service started May 6, 2014.  Separate recycling bin for your home is provided.  Please contact Saraland City Hall if you are interested in this service or have any questions at 675-5103. Place ALL recyclables into your recycling bin, and the items will be sorted at the plant.
Acceptable items for single-stream recycling         Aluminum Cans        Aluminum Foil Bimetal Cans (including aerosol cans) Brown Grocery Bags Cardboard (flattened) Catalogs Chipboard  Construction Paper   Frozen Food Cartons     Glass Jars and Bottles     Juice Boxes        Junk Mail (including envelopes)  Magazines  Newspaper with Inserts        Office Paper (including computer, fax & copy paper)        Trash Paperback Books Paper Egg Cartons      Plastics #1-7 Telephone Books
Unacceptable items include: Appliances Caps and Lids Clothing Compost Diapers Food Furniture Hangers Light Bulbs Mirrors Paper Plates Plastic Bags Styrofoam Take-out Packaging or Utensils Window Glass Yard Waste

Precious Plastic Recycling

Invented by Dave Hakkens, graduated cum laude from the Design Academy Eindhoven, Netherlands in summer 2013.  His goal is to reduce used consumer plastic from the earth.  All plans are free and down loadable from his web site.  Some of his slogans are "Spread the know how, boast plastic recycling", "Boost Recycling".
